I bought this laptop to replace my old one, which was 4 years old. I have always been a fan of Toshiba, which offers great laptops that are Mac to Sony quality but with a lot lowered price. However, this laptop has the same problem with any other Toshiba laptops: short battery life. I only get 2 hours and 30 mins ish outta this model while using it full time on battery power. Doing everything is fast, but starting it takes a little more time than I had expected.

The computer has an LED Back-lit Display (Toshiba Specs do not have it checked and that is an error because it does have an LED Back-lit Display). The Back-lit keyboard is a nice feature. The Harmon/Kardon Speakers are phenomenal! If you want a computer with excellent sound quality make sure they have the Harmon/Kardon Speakers. This computer has it all and it is fast!! I also found it on sale so even better!!! I was comparing two other Satellite models (A665-S6050 and A665D-S6051) with this computer.

I've had this laptop for a week now and I've been nothing less than impressed with it. First off, I'm a college student so I do a lot of typing for researching and writing papers. The keyboard is one of the best keyboards on a notebook I've ever used. It's extrememly comfortable and if you are used to using a numeric keypad like me, this laptop is equipped with one and it is very useful I must say; Plus, the keyboard is backlit which is a really convenient and useful feature and goes off automatically when you aren't typing so you don't need to bother with manually turning it on/off. The trackpad feels naturally comfortable which will take little or no getting used to and supports multi-touch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom, swiping, and scrolling with two fingers. Again, the Satellite A665-S6054 has perhaps the best keyboard/trackpad combo I've ever used on a laptop. Another thing worth noting and sharing with potential buyers are the speakers. Long story short: they sound EXCELLENT. You'll be amazed at how great sound quality is when the sound is coming from such small speakers. Pair the speakers with the awesome screen, and watching movies and videos online is a more pleasant experience than you may imagine. The screen looks great, but the computer is also equipped with Intel Wireless Display, so if you're a true media lover, then you can dish out an extra hundred bucks to get an adapter and stream everything you watch on your laptop wirelessly to your HDTV. If you don't want to spend any extra, the computer is also equipped with an HDMI port so you can connect your laptop directly to your HDTV. Performance-wise, the Intel Core i5 processor along with 4GB of RAM make the computer blazing fast and multitasking is a breeze. I only have a few complaints about the laptop. If you're looking for long battery life, this isn't the computer for you. I get about 2 hours and 45 minutes on my current settings which isn't much but it works for me, but I would definitely appreciate a longer battery life. When plugged in, the AC adapter gets in the way of the optical drive and prevents it from ejecting very far and the disc tray in whole feels pretty cheap. And I have no idea why, but it's very difficult plugging things into the ports. Whether it be a USB peripheral, some headphones, an HDMI cord, an eSATA cord, whatever; you have to struggle to disconnect them and wiggle them in when you're connecting them. It almost feels as if the ports are too small. It's a very tight fit. These are all minor inconveniences though, and all in all, I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone. PROS: -Excellent backlit keyboard and multi-touch trackpad. -Speakers provide superb sound quality. -Lightweight for easy portability. -Fast performance. -Media card reader is a very good addition. -You pay a great price for an excellent computer. CONS: -Various peripherals are very hard to plug into the ports on the computer. You really have to struggle disconnecting them and it feels like a tight squeeze when you plug them into the ports. -AC adapter input is located right next to the optical drive, so if the computer is plugged in and you eject the disc tray, the power adapter prevents it from opening very far and gets in the way. -Optical drive tray feels rather flimsy as well. -Less than average battery life. -Glossy finish on the keyboard and around the edges of the laptop are a fingerprint magnet for those of you who are conscious of appearance.
