This computer is my fourth laptop. I use them for work and games. I wasn't really happy with my last laptop, so I really did some reading up on specs before I bought another, and I spent several days doing price comparisons and reading other users' reviews. I am very happy with this laptop. It is very fast, solidly built and has the best video card I could find in an off-the-shelf laptop. The backlit LED screen beautiful. Everything looks great on it. Speakers sound great. The fan on the computer is quiet and it doesn't really get that hot, even if I'm gaming on it. The backlit full keyboard is a nice feature, too. Everyone in my immediate family plays WoW (World of Warcraft) and my old laptop just couldn't handle the demands of the game. This new laptop makes the game look and play how it should. I have all my video settings maxed except shadow effect, and I get 60 fps in Dalaran during peak hours. Also raids and battlegrounds are demanding with all the particles. This laptop still has no problems getting 60 fps. I couldn't be happier with this. I had heard good things about Toshiba, and I would definitely buy another.

This is a very capable machine. I got this computer after an exhaustive online research. It’s a great compromise between high end gaming machines that you’d have to pay extra $1000 and computers with underpowered graphics cards. I did a lot of comparisons between NVIDIA vs. ATI graphics cards and the conclusion was that Core i7 processor irons out any disadvantages that NVIDIA (allegedly) have when compared to ATI. Games like Gears of War, CrysisWARHEAD, Halo 2, F.E.A.R, Fallout.3-RELOADED, Grand Theft Auto IV, FarCry 2 ran without any lag on 1920x1080 resolution and medium high settings with the notebook connected to 42” HD television via RGB cable. Very impressive. While some gaming aficionados might put on their snobby hats, to me this was a gaming heaven. PROS: Superb Core i7 processor, NVIDIA graphics card with 1GB of GDDR3 dedicated memory, weight under 6lb (5.8lb), quiet fan, build quality, overall aesthetic design. CONS: Oversized and heavy power adapter, batter life (although it’s expected). You can’t find a better deal for the components and build quality than this, decide for yourself.

Have had many issues with this computer. Have had issues I've never before had in other brands. !st. Randomly shutting down(started after a month of buying it). Then it wouldn't' even turn on. After that, sent to repair(not that sure if they really fixed anything except updated bios). Then after a month after I got it back it started randomly shutting down again. Then now it turns on and off. Overall, I can barely finish my computer work. Performance while it stays on is good but just annoys me when it just shuts off when I'm in the middle of something. A cheaper computer could probably be more efficient than that. At least it would be able to stay on. I cant' expect to keep shipping it to them every month to get it fixed or whatever. After the warranty is over, I will be left with a computer that randomly shuts off and turns on? On forums they say its due to heating issues. This has happened to many models of Toshiba as they say. Then why haven't they fixed it? Its happening on the newer models too.

Fluctuating Low Screen ResolutionSeptember 13, 2010

I regret buying this computer. I brought this computer to help me do my school work. Since day one, my screen resolution fluctuated. The screen resolution was set to the recommended in the control panel, which is 1366 x 768. When I accessed the internet, the screen resolution was set lower than what was set in the control panel. My screen resolution fluctuated almost every day. The low screen resolution made it hard for me to browse the internet. I had difficulty accessing Yahoo Mail, forums, and downloading desktop backgrounds. I have sent my laptop back to Toshiba to be fixed, and I hope the issue will get resolved. I just brought another laptop from Sony to use at home right now while I work with Toshiba to get my laptop fixed. I hope I like the Sony F laptop better than this computer. I hope this computer does not cause you the same grief as it did for me. Good luck on choosing your laptop. I hope you have a better experience than I did. I want to mention that the speakers on this laptop were excellent.
